Some Music I Liked This Week

The Districts

The striking resemblance "Ordinary Day" has to Wolf Parade is what grabbed my attention, but this song is what the kids call a "banger." The Districts are releasing their junior album at some point this year.

Hurray for the Riff Raff

I wasn't sure what to share from the new Hurray for the Riff Raff album, because everything I've heard so far is excellent. You could listen to "Hungry Ghost" above or watch Alynda Segarra perform it live on Conan or hear the stunning "Pa'lante" at your own leisure. The Navigator is out now.

Mr. Husband

Riding a lightening bolt sounds both painful and exhilarating. "Riding A Lightening Bolt" is neither. It's mostly a drowsy and delightful tune that could rock you to sleep in a good way. It's like Real Estate scored Band of Horses. Mr. Husband is releasing this song on an album in May.

Some More Stuff

Feist has a new song called "Pleasure".

Advance Base will be back in Sioux Falls on Monday.

Father John Misty's packaging is top notch again.

Your Old Droog put Danny Brown on "Grandma Hips" and it's special.

PWR BTTM writes charming lyrics. I should go see them in Omaha in June.
