Some Music I Liked This Week

If there's a theme to this week's music choices it's "pleasant surprises." I plucked new tracks from three artists I've followed for a while (Dirty Projectors, CYHSY, Craig Finn) and while each of them have their own unique sound, their new music truly surprised me.

Dirty Projectors

Dave Longstreth gives a solo vocal performance (maybe?) on this soulful new track from Dirty Projectors, which is the primary reason why it's unlike their other material. They haven't confirmed a release date, but expect a new album from Dirty Projectors some time in 2017.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah

For having such a distinct voice, Alec Ounsworth does a marvelous job of moving Clap Your Hands Say Yeah into new territory and using his unique timbre as an asset. Their trendiness seemed to peak in the mid-to-late 2000s, but that doesn't mean they've stopped making interesting music. This is one of my favorite tracks to-date. Their new album, The Tourist, is out next month.

Craig Finn

Speaking of unique timbre, Craig Finn is still on-point with his talk singing, but his arrangement for this piece is something new. Enjoy some sick flute action along. His new album, We All Want The Same Things, is out in March.
