Some Music I Liked This Week

Cymbals Eat Guitars

The new Cymbals Eat Guitars songs are pretty much what you'd expect from CEG, except dancier. It's nice to have a few bands in my rotation who're capable of providing something comparable to an emo fix. Their new album, Pretty Years, is out now.

Mick Jenkins

Mick Jenkins' new album, The Healing Component, comes out today. On it, you'll find this collaboration with Canadian jazz/hip-hop group BADBADNOTGOOD. And while I'm sure the rest of the album is equally as great, I'd love to hear the two artists collaborate on an entire album.

Cass McCombs

Just in time for a fall's worth of cool Saturday mornings spent drinking coffee, Cass McCombs released his new album, Mangy Love, at the end of August. He always delivers on the mellow vibes and this time around, he featured Angel Olsen on a track, which is an automatic win in my book.

The Growlers

This is how The Growlers do sexy. Their new album, City Club, is out next week.

Songs from the '70s have been resonating with me lately. I could swear that this tune from Vexx was plucked straight from the early in that decade. You can hear their new EP, The Wild Hunt, on Bandcamp.
