These fellas will be in Sioux Falls tonight at Total Drag, but if you don't have a ticket, it looks like you're out of luck. I haven't seen Night Moves since they played the last We All Have Hooks For Hands show at The Orpheum, so I'm looking forward to seeing how they've evolved since then. Their new record, Pennied Days, is out on March 25 on Domino.
If you make it past the opening cacophony to 0:06, you'll find a pretty steady, mellow exploration of modern social skills, as the title suggests. It looks like "Social Skills" is namely a single for Naps, but may appear on a split EP in the near future. For now, enjoy the flute loop.
The saxophone renaissance of the 2010s is in full effect on "Feeling". Bibio is releasing a new album, A Mineral Love, on April 1. I haven't done a very good job of following him since 2009's Ambivalence Avenue, but I have a feeling that I'll be listening to this groove all year.
Margaret Glaspy doesn't waste any time busting into "You and I". Her two-track EP featuring this tune is out today. According to her label, her musical background includes time spent playing competitive fiddle and marching band trombone, neither of which are featured on the EP. Unfortunately?
I don't know much about Nicholas Krgovich, except that his album, The Hills, is out on March 4 and that if I don't add a sick R&B jam to my rotation every once in a while, I've failed. He has a pretty extensive Bandcamp page that I'm listening to as I type. Does this song feature a bassoon? And does he play all of the instruments? Who is this guy?!
