Some Music I Liked This Week

In my quest to organize my favorite music of 2015, I check out lists from professional music journalists and friends to make sure I didn't miss or forget anything. Inevitably, I discover something new and it makes list-making even harder. So, until I sort out 2015, here are two new songs that showed up on a couple lists.

I follow Rough Trade Records on Twitter and they do a great job of tracking and promoting their artists across the web. SOAK is one of those artists and somehow I waited until the end of the year to oblige their promotion and click a link. SOAK a 19-year-old from Ireland and her beautiful debut record, Before We Forget How To Dream, is comprised of tracks she's been working on since she was 14. When I was 14, I was pretty into Sisqo.

Frank Turner

My favorite episodes of "improv4humans" involve guest musicians who sit in and inspire scenes for Matt Besser and friends. On my flight to Portland back in October, Besser's guest on episode #209 was Frank Turner, the English singer-songwriter who released his sixth studio album, Positive Songs For Negative People, back in August. The thing that blew me away was how much energy he brought to an acoustic, in-studio performance.
